The province of Ontario has gone on record as saying it would embrace foreign players for its online poker pool.

Ontario's position is that Ontario players would be under the umbrella of their local regulatory regime, but their rivals in the U.S., Europe, and elsewhere would be under the oversight of those jurisdictions.

Not so fast.

The Atlantic Lottery Corp., British Columbia Lottery Corp., Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corp., and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corp. aim to break down Ontario’s legal wall and have the appeals court reject the province’s plan.

The exact structure of Ontario’s pooled liquidity model is a work in progress.

Wednesday was the second day of arguments for the Ontario government’s reference to the provincial Court of Appeal regarding online gambling, DFS, poker, and pooled liquidity.

Ontario's international pooling has been a hot topic since this past summer.

888Poker would be the biggest beneficiary.  They were the first online poker room to enter the Ontario market through regulation. Before the province’s segregated market opened, 888poker, ACR Poker, GGPoker, and PokerStars — served Ontario players through their global license.

While 888Poker most definitely stands to have its players worldwide join in the pooling should foreign players be permitted, it remains to be seen if the others will be included.
